Pretty In Pink For Spring 2015

By Alexia Gonzalez on March 20, 2015

There isn’t a color that screams spring more than the beloved girly hue of baby pink. This delicate shade is synonymous with sunshine, florals, and femininity (on Wednesdays we wear pink, right?).

Well fear not, because pink is appropriate for every single day of the spring season.

If light pink only makes you think of baby showers and tutus, maybe it’s time to reconsider. Not only is it flattering on most skin tones, but it’s also a great color for transitioning into spring and should become a wardrobe staple for this season (possibly for the rest of forever).

Not to mention that wearing pink heightens your feminine charm and amps up your flirt appeal.

Designers such as Haider Ackermann rolled out the pink carpet during the recent passing of Paris Fashion Week, and debuted some luxurious spring-ready pink looks.

Baby, blush, or pale pink can take you from a casual lunch outing to a formal occasion without comprising your attitude or sense of style. In other words: you can still look like a badass in a baby pink getup.

Whether you incorporate this hue through the use of accessories, makeup, or rock a straight up pink on pink ensemble, you definitely need some pink in your life this season.

Here are a few ways to add a dose of rose to your spring wardrobe.

Monochromatic

An all pink ensemble can look incredibly fierce while maintaining the softness of your feminine charm. The beauty about a light pink hue is that it’s subtle enough that you can literally wear it from head to toe, without appearing plain or under-dressed.

Whether it’s a pencil skirt and tight fitting top or skinnies and a button up blouse, be sure to break up the monotony of your one color outfit with dark accessories such as black pumps and a black purse.

Spruce things up with a stack of gold bracelets and you’re ready for a spring day out.

Color Blocking

Color blocking with baby pink can add a dose of unexpected glamour to an otherwise predictable ensemble.

Color block this soft shade by contrasting your pink with darker tones. Try mixing browns or burgundy shades with your baby pink to create a stark warm and cool contrast. Pairing a black top with a pink skirt, or pink shorts with a navy blazer creates the perfect balance of feminine and edgy.

Neutral Base

Sometimes it can seem difficult to pair baby pink with light colors and not appear like you’re dressing for an Easter egg hunt. Pastel pink looks incredibly chic when paired with neutral base tones.

White, beige, or grey paired with baby pink looks polished and crisp for a sunny spring day, while still maintaining an air of style savvy and fashion maturity. Keep your look intriguing by pairing different types of shapes such as structured silhouettes and geometric pieces.

Texture Play

Pale pink hues can be spiced up by mixing textures and fabrics within your ensemble. This shade looks feminine yet casual when combined with denim, such as simple jeans or a chambray button up shirt.

Layer a sheer blush top over a cotton skirt for a funky yet flirty approach, or try silky wide legged pants for a girly boho chic look.

Formal Wear

Although a baby pink may seem subdued, this tone has become a go-to color for many a red carpet strutting celeb fashionista. Why? Because it appears natural and sexy, and can dress up a simple gown or illuminate a more adorned piece.

This shade of pink looks stunning when paired with gold or when bejeweled.  And it doesn’t hurt that oversized fancy bows look better in pink. Baby pink adds warmth and delicacy without the need to overdo makeup or overdress.

Accessorize

If you’re not quite ready to incorporate baby pink into your sartorial game, start off by adding doses of the tone through your accessories.

Baby pink purses and shoes are all the rage for this spring season, and will provide a dash of flower power to any ensemble.
